Preface

The purpose of this collection of exercises is to provide an introduction to the use of programming in various areas of mathematics. The programming language used is Python 3.6 or later. These exercises are used as a basis for the practical sessions LU2MA100 given at Sorbonne University in the framework of the undergraduate mathematics studies.

The exercises in this collection correspond, up to a few minor details, to those of the book Python Programming for Mathematics, published by CRC Press. The solutions are available in the print and ebook editions published by CRC Press.

This English version is a translation of the French edition Programmation Python par la pratique published by Dunod.

The notebooks used to work through the exercises are available on github and can be launched directly online on mybinder.
